Karan Shelley received her massage therapy certification in 1994. Karan has special certifications in Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) from the Vodder School in Walchsee, Austria, and in Levels I and II Craniosacral Therapy (CST) from the Upledger Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She has practiced at the Lymphedema Center at University Hospitals of Cleveland, the first hospital-based lymphedema treatment center in the United States, and at the Mt Sinai Breast Clinic. In 2005, Case Western Reserve University Medical School welcomed her presentation on medical massage as part of their curriculum on alternative healing. She has also spoken at The Gathering Place, a support center for people in cancer recovery, on the signs, symptoms, prevention and treatment of lymphedema. A Ph.D. in Philosophy, Karan taught college level philosophy for twenty years at various local universities. She is a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP), and President of The Bon Foundation, a non-profit that raises money for a Tibetan monastery-in-exile in Northern India.
