Kit Sawyer received her massage therapy certification in 1995 and has done advanced training in anatomy and physiology as well as various energy therapies with noted healers Rosalyn Bruyere, Jim Kepner and Carol DeSanto. Kit has volunteered massage treatments at The Gathering Place, a support center for people in cancer recovery, and at The Open House, which serves people with HIV/AIDS. For several months in 2001 and 2002 she volunteered giving massages to rescue workers at Ground Zero in New York City. A former teacher, Kit has a Master's degree in Urban teaching, has been a long-time member of the Board of Trustees of Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland, and is Vice-president of the Bon Foundation, a non-profit that raises money for a Tibetan monastery-in-exile in Northern India. She is a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP.)
